While The Beatles’ "Let it Be" was released shortly after the band’s break-up was announced, it is technically not the last studio album they recorded—that honor belongs to 1969’s Abbey Road. Due to production issues with the record, which saw Phil Spector come in at the last minute to add his“Wall of Sound” to the mixes, "Let it Be" sits awkwardly in the pioneering rock band’s catalog. It was released simultaneously with the film of the same name, and which includes footage of their impromptu final public performance on top of the roof of Apple Records. Paul McCartney would later spearhead a stripped-down edition of the record called "Let It Be…Naked" in 2003.
